Sharon Buttry

Sharon is a Hamtramck resident and ministers to children, families and the community as Minister of Mission with  Acts 29. She has lived in and led faith based inner city ministry in Boston, Philadelphia, and now Detroit. Sharon loves to be a part of building the kingdom of God “on earth as it is in heaven.” You can find Sharon writing grants, coaching Bible quizzing, teaching in the Acts 29 ECCLESIA School of Missions, and hosting mission teams. Sharon is also the Co-Chair of Hamtramck Community Initiative, leading efforts to reduce crime with  groups like WEED and SEED (not a garden club, that’s WEED out crime, and SEED in positive community building action).

Sharon is married to global missionary Rev. Dr. Daniel Buttry, and is mother of Chris (Hamtramck), Jon (Atlanta) and Janelle (Detroit). Sharon and Dan travel internationally together once a year with Dan’s global peace building ministry.  Sharon teaches with Dan and conducts her own workshops on community development and trauma awareness and recovery.
Painting, art, music, scrap booking and cooking are the things she likes to do when family and friends gather around. Sharon’s favorite book of the Bible is Isaiah. Her favorite scripture is Jesus’ quotation of Isaiah,  in Luke chapter 4, when Jesus declares, “I AM Jubilee”.
