“Acts 29 influenced my life 3 years ago at winter camp when I finally decided to give my life to Christ. Living in Hamtramck is a struggle because it’s very diverse and everyone believes in a different religion and follows worldly views. For example: most people say you should take care of yourself before you take care of others, but Jesus says you should help others before you help yourself. It’s very hard to go to school in this city because there are a lot of gangs and fights, and it’s difficult to spread the word of God, or stand up for it with all the corruption. I have been a part of Bible Quizzing for four years, and it has helped me grow and go deeper into God’s word. The words that I have studied come to me in difficult situations to help me do the right thing. “ -Lopez (17 years old)
“I was trying to figure out words that could best describe what Acts 29 meant to me and my family, and I realized there are not enough words that could possibly really explain how they have helped change our lives.
Acts 29 has showed us so much love, affection and compassion. They helped me when I was down and out physically and mentally. They helped change my life because when I had surgery they came and made sure my family was fed and okay while I was in the hospital and when I came home they made sure they came to the house and had Bible study when I could not get out. Mentally they showed and encouraged me to be able to trust more in people and in God. Now I try and help and give back and tell everyone I can about God.
Most of all they took my kids under their wings and are continuing to teach them how to fly on their own. The camps are amazing because the kids won’t stop talking about them and want to attend every year. Bible quizzing has helped change them mentally and academically with learning, knowing the Bible and being able to tell their peers about what they have learned and know about God at a young age.
Acts 29 helped change our lives forever. I really do not know where I would be if it was not for them, and now I don’t know what I would do without them.” -Tonya (mother of five)
